What Is Audubon Adventures?
The National Audubon Society creates award-winning environmental education curriculum for students in grades 3-5. Developed by professional environmental educators, Audubon Adventures presents standards-based science content about birds, wildlife, and their habitats. The lessons can be easily integrated into the curriculum areas of science, social studies, mathematics, language arts, and creative arts.
Audubon Adventures provides teachers with:
- 32 copies of each of 3 or 4 full-color magazine sets sent throughout the year
- access to digital teaching units for each module
- an assortment of classroom and field-based activities
- “Eyes on the Wild” videos and webcams
- supplemental online material, including instructional guides, learning assessments, games, quizzes, and alignment with science education standards

Donations from Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance members make it possible for us to send free Audubon Adventures curriculum kits to elementary-school classrooms throughout Lane County. We hope that you will add your support to this worthy and exciting program.
The cost to sponsor one classroom is $45, which covers the cost of the kit, plus postage. If you want to specify a classroom or school you would like your donation to go toward, let us know on the form and we will try to make it happen!

Thanks to the sponsors, both regular and new, who made it possible for us to give local classrooms the Audubon Adventures classroom kits once again.
These donations mean that 24 classrooms in Lane County elementary schools are now receiving Audubon Adventures. The topics for this year’s three learning modules are Raptors, Seabirds, and Sharing Our Shores.
The schools (and number of classrooms participating) are: Howard Elementary (5), Awbrey Park (2), Mt. Vernon (1), Veneta (4), Edison (2), Adams (1), Elmira (1), Applegate (2), Thurston (1), Ridgeline Montessori (1), Yolanda (1), Siuslaw (1), and McCornack (2).
This represents a total of 589 students—quite an impact!
Because students get a newsletter to take home three times a year, it’s likely that each issue gets read by other family members. This means that the good information and fun facts can be spread even more widely. We appreciate the dedicated teachers who are helping connect their students with the fascinating and vital natural world, and the sponsors who make this program possible.
