RESCHEDULED-Cristalino Lodge: 20 Yrs in Amazonian Paradise

PROGRAM WAS RESCHEDULED TO JUNE 16-SEE JUNE CALENDAR
Join your friends for an outstanding presentation by one of our superb local naturalists, Rich Hoyer at the Campbell Center on April 28, Tuesday, for our 7:00 pm Program Meeting.
Rich Hoyer first visited what was a young, adventure-oriented lodge in Brazil’s southeastern Amazonian rainforest in 2004. Tucked into the forest above the banks of a remote tributary of the mighty Amazon River, the lodge is now a luxury destination that supports nature conservation.
It boasts miles of trails, two canopy towers, and the river itself, all of which offer remarkable access to the surprisingly varied habitats of the area. Many new species of plants, animals, and fungi have been discovered here, and thousands of birders have added countless lifers to their lists among the many species restricted to this region. Join Rich for some terrific stories about his experiences with birds, snakes, frogs, ants, and the many clients he has guided over the years.
Born and raised in Oregon, Rich Hoyer earned his bachelor’s degrees in German and Zoology at Oregon State University. Following a few years as an itinerant biologist and summer guide on Saint Paul Island, Alaska, he moved to Tucson, Arizona.
Rich Hoyer, has been working as a professional birding tour leader for WINGS for the past 29 years. He leads tours to such exciting locations as Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico, and Jamaica, but he also looks forward to his annual tours that explore the beauty and diversity of his home state. Rich moved back to Oregon in 2019 and now lives in Eugene where he also enjoys his hobbies of gardening, landscaping with native plants, knitting, cooking, and making music.

Program Meetings
Our monthly program meetings have something for everyone. During the last year we hosted programs by naturalists, wildlife artists and expert birders on a variety of topics from the birds of Hawaii, to ravens, wolves, and people, to the migration of red knots. Participating in a program meeting is a fun way to get involved with Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance. Meetings are free and open to all.
We are currently meeting on Zoom and in-person as conditions allow on the 4th Tuesday of each month between September and May at 7:00 p.m.
