Several organizations will be there to share information with our community members about projects, how to get involved, and ways we can help birds, pollinators, and environmental health.

Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance, Cascades Raptor Center, Mt Pisgah Arboretum, McKenzie River Trust, Beyond Toxics, WREN, Nearby Nature, Wild Birds Unlimited, Lane County Queer Birders, and Willamette River Keeper.

Pre-festival activities will include a chance to participate in habitat restoration projects around the park area. 10:00-1:00 Habitat restoration around the park. See: info@wewetlands.org. RSVP is appreciated

** Noon: Two Bird Outings.

1-A Park Wander with Charlie Quinn. Birders of all levels are welcome to join.

2-An All-Abilities Bird Outing near the shelters by the river led by Barb and Dan Gleason. This birding event moves at a slower pace, to allow those with vision, auditory, mobility or other challenges to travel at an easier pace, so they can enjoy the birds and the outing.

• Distance: we will likely only travel about ½ mile total, given that we will be stopping to look and observe any birds we find.
• Surfaces: Most paths at Alton Baker are paved, with a few being packed gravel close to waterways.
• Level/slope: Paths at Alton Baker are very flat, with very few minor hilly portions near trees.
• Rest Places: There are a few benches, although a few are inaccessible for those using wheeled devices, being on platforms up steps! (Really!)
• Shade, sun, etc.: Shady under the trees, otherwise mostly open fields. Hats might be a good thought.
• Bathrooms: Restrooms are in a small building near the entry to the park, close to the duck ponds.

Kiddos, Pets: People do bring dogs here to walk and all dogs are supposed to be on leash in city parks. Children tend to like this park because of all the ducks and geese that are close by and easy to see.
