Comment Period on Draft Forest Management Plan is now Open

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

The Oregon Department of Forestry has opened a comment period on a draft Forest Management Planthat will guide state forest management in Western Oregon for the next 10 years.

More than 300 species of wildlife and plants depend on state forests for habitat, including several species found nowhere else in the world. In addition, these forests have a tremendous capacity to capture and store carbon, far more than current management practices provide. There is pressure to ramp up logging including clearcuts and old growth. They need to hear from you that you value the forests for habitat, ecosystem services, and recreation.

There are two ways to act for our state forests. check out these talking points to help craft your brief comments.

1) Send a letter to ODF staff before 11:55 p.m. on January 31. By email:   odf.sfcomments@odf.oregon.gov
