First Saturday Bird Outing, May 2

Our first Saturday bird on May 2nd starts at 8:30 AM. These birding opportunities are intended to center women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ folks. We will be meeting at the base of Skinner Butte here: https://goo.gl/maps/ZjCMJPzjt558yeBG9

This walk is on maintained trails. We will go up the butte, spend some time at the top, then head back down. The walk up the butte is about 1 mile with 250 feet of elevation gain. We will then do the small loop at the top of the butte, which is relatively flat. If you would prefer to park at the top of the butte and join us for the top loop portion of the walk, please let me know, and we can arrange to connect with you at the top.

We plan to bird for at least two hours. As it is springtime, the weather is unpredictable, so please plan accordingly. Please check the forecast before the walk and bring any cold-weather, sun, and/or rain gear (e.g., raincoat, rain pants, umbrella, warm layers, hat, etc.). We will meet rain or shine.

We will have one extra pair of binoculars available, a scope to share with folks, and a couple of field guides.

Our First Saturday Bird Outings, created as part of our commitment to the Coast to Cascades Bird Alliance Inclusivity and Diversity Statement, are meant to hold intentional space for women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ birders. Birders of all levels and backgrounds are welcome to join, particularly those who may have felt intimidated at the thought of birding alone or on other guided walks.
