Third Saturday Bird Outing, Jan. 17

The Third Saturday Bird Walk for January is on Saturday, January 17, starting at 8:00am at the Booth Kelley path in Springfield. We are pleased to have Vjera Thompson as the leader. The walk will be on a flat paved multi-use path with a couple benches. For those who want, we can return on a flat gravel road and observe the pond from a different angle. Beavers have been active here for the last year and we will be able to see related habitat changes. There was some native plant restoration about a year ago so we can look and see what it looks like a year later. Swamp Sparrow has been reported here recently, so we will check for it.

The walk will probably cover 2-3 miles. If attendees have accessibility requests they can contact Vjera at nemesisquail@gmail.com or talk to Vjera at the start of the walk. There is a restroom at the parking lot but it is often closed. To get to the parking lot, turn south on 5th St, then left (east) on South B St.
